EDF's rapid intervention force.
EDF creates rapid intervention forces.
In France, the network should be fully restored in 2001.
The 1999 storms in France were unusually violent. In the future, EDF would be able to restore electricity to 80% of customers within 24 hours and to 95% within five days. Over the next fifteen years, no less than 36 000 points of the network will be secured. In addition, EDF is working to improve on the network structure and technology to upgrade the resistance of the electric network.
The Distribution Division has created a Rapid Intervention Force that can mobilize over 2 000 people in 48 hours and will be able to intervene anywhere. A separate service was also created to manage and dispatch backup generators in case of power failures.

London Electricity taps into network management opportunities.
In April 2000, in a joint venture with Eastern Electricity (TXU Europe), London Electricity launched 24Seven Utility Services Ltd., which operates and maintains the distribution networks of the two companies.
In the near future, 24Seven will offer this service to other companies as well.

Network quality worldwide
The EDF Group is committed to upgrading network technology worldwide. In Argentina, Edenor's network quality has improved significantly over the past five years. In Morocco, Lydec has created a Central Operation Office (BCC) which intervenes on all networks. BCC will be operational in 2001 and will improve service to customers by reducing the time needed to restore power.
