Yann Kersalé is an artist who uses light as others would
earth or paint. He chooses night, a time which he favours to carry
out his experimentation. By placing space and structures in movement,
he proposes a new theme for the contemporary city.
Through specific sociological, historical, geographical or architectural
elements, Yann Kersalé seeks a creative base from which
he can draw a narrative topic. In this way, he creates luminous
fictions in an urban environment, geographical and poetic paths
in the midst of nature or forges his own light matter.
This is how most of his projects have come into being, both in
France, such as the Cité Manifeste in Mulhouse, the Monoprix
Porte de Châtillon, the Allée du Roi at Chaville,
the Pont de Normandie, the embankments of Cherbourg, the Lyon
Opera, the Port of Saint-Nazaire, and abroad, such as the Torre
Agbar in Barcelona with Jean Nouvel, the Sparkasse in Germany,
the Footbridge of Peace in Seoul with Rudy Ricccioti, the Deutsche
Post in Bonn, the Sony Centre in Berlin, the Moulins de Beez in
Namur, the barge lifts in Thieu, etc.
Yann Kersalé is currently working on projects in Paris
at the Musée du Quai Branly, as well as in Nice, Bordeaux,
Montpellier and Saint-Nazaire. Beyond French borders, his workshop
is developing other projects in London, Venice, Germany and Portugal.
