Jacques Perrin: Producer and director of the movie

Jacques Cluzaud and I flew over clouds and crossed the sky with migratory birds. We then wanted to approach another universe, another type of fluidity, that of the swordfish that whizzes past, of dolphins that rush forth in a cavalcade, of whales that dance. We wanted to be a fish among the fishes, to swim at their speed with our shoulders touching their fins, from one shore to another. To move about freely in a three-dimensional universe and, for the first time, to accompany animals at their aerodynamic and hydrodynamic speed with a feeling of weightlessness. To fly over the clouds amid a flock of wild swans or to pelt along under the surface of the sea amid a school of large tuna… Our aim in directing this movie could only be understood using the imagination.
Jacques Cluzaud: co-director of the movie
Four years of filming took us to exceptional places on our planet that can be divided into two large categories: those where life seems to be expressed in the same way as it has been for thousands, or even millions of years, and those where the order of nature has obviously and seriously changed. The sea of abundance that we were searching for no longer exists in the areas affected by human exploitation: overfishing, pollution, concrete coastlines… Like a fistful of confetti scattered over the planet, sanctuaries can be found here and there, protected areas where life is expressed, or revived, persistently and vigorously. These small parts of the world were the main areas where images from the film Oceans were captured... with the hope that they are not the reflection of bygone diversity, but rather prove that life is persistent, constantly renewed, wild and free.
